In a press conference on Thursday, 6 March, the Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN) shared that it had arrested a Malaysian woman for attempting to smuggle 11.84 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside her genitalia on 18 February.

BNN Bali chief Brig. Gen. Rudy Ahmad Sudrajat presented the seized meth during a press conference.

The 26-year-old suspect was apprehended at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport a few weeks prior to the press conference. Customs officers at the airport became suspicious of her while she was undergoing security screening in the international arrivals terminal. A subsequent x-ray examination revealed a black condom concealed inside her genitalia, which, upon inspection, contained a clear plastic bag filled with methamphetamine.

Authorities said AAN admitted to obtaining the drugs from a contact named Aran, also known as Boy, who remains at large and is on the agency’s wanted list.

The suspect reportedly smuggled the methamphetamine for personal use during a planned vacation in Bali with her boyfriend and friends.

“She came to Bali for a holiday, for ‘healing.’ She had arranged to meet her boyfriend here, and the drugs were intended for use by them and their friends from Malaysia,” Sudrajat said.

The woman arrived in Bali alone, without her boyfriend or other companions. Authorities are still investigating whether she intended to distribute the drugs to other users.

She has been charged under Indonesia’s stringent narcotics laws, facing potential penalties under Articles 112, 113, and 114 of Law No. 35 of 2009 on narcotics. The charges carry severe sentences, including the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a minimum of six years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
