Bali is to be home to Indonesia’s first world-class marina development, establishing Indonesia as one of the world’s leading marine destinations.

The landmark project marks a significant leap forward in marine tourism and infrastructure in Indonesia. It will attract yachting enthusiasts from around the world to explore Indonesia’s  exceptional natural beauty.

By promoting luxury tourism, the project promises to stimulate local economies by creating jobs and building an active yachting community. Furthermore, it will focus on sustainable solutions to environmental preservation.

Bali’s First Luxury Yacht Marina

The new development will be situated in Benoa, within the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub, only 15 minutes away from Ngurah Rai International Airport. This further defines it as the perfect yachting hub to explore Indonesia’s famous archipelago.

“Indonesia’s unique location, safe from storms and typhoons, combined with 17,000 islands, spectacular dive sites, diverse languages, cultures and year-round favorable weather, make Indonesia an ideal location for such a development.” Says Ulf Backlund, President Director of Marina Development Indonesia.

Superyachts Are Coming To Bali

The marina is set to accommodate over 180 yachts including over 50 superyachts, and will be designed to match the highest of international standards. This includes a travel lift capable of handling vessels weighing up to 200 tonnes, and a premium fuelling station.

State-of-the-art floating breakwaters and concrete pontoons will be installed by Swedish firm SF Marina. Additionally, cutting-edge electricity and water systems will be implemented by Italian firm Plus Marine to provide Smartcloud remote metering systems that result in accurate and efficient services.

The company Discover Luxury Indonesia will tailor each visitor’s on-ship and off-ship experience with exemplary logistical support.

Premium amenities including a yacht club, commercial areas featuring restaurants, retail and entertainment, and multiple hospitality options will be present in the marina, ensuring an exceptional experience for all customers.

Project Timeline

Overall, the marina development is heralded as an integral improvement in Indonesia’s marine industry.

“The new marina in Bali embodies our vision to position Indonesia as a key player in the global marina industry, combining luxury experiences, services, safety and world-class infrastructure,” said Arif Suhartono, President Director of Pelindo.

While the marina is scheduled to be fully operational by mid-2026, the first yachts are to be berthed as soon as mid-2025, and temporary buoy moorings are already available for up to 30 vessels.
