A tragic discovery was made on Wednesday morning, Dec. 11, when residents of Jalan Nusa Indah in Sading, Mengwi, Badung, Bali, found the body of a baby girl inside a bag alongside an apology letter.

The discovery occurred around 7:30 AM local time (WITA) in an empty lot on the street.

Badung Police Public Relations Officer, Ipda I Putu Sukarma, confirmed the incident and stated that the body has been taken to Prof Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for an autopsy.

“The baby, whose identity remains unknown, is currently at the hospital for a post-mortem examination,” Sukarma said.

Alongside the baby, a note was found written on cardboard, expressing sorrow and regret:
“My dear daughter, forgive your mother. I cannot bury you properly. I hope a kind-hearted person finds you and buries you. Your parents cannot provide you with a final resting place. We love you.”

Discovery Details

The discovery began around 6:30 AM when a resident noticed a gray bag under a tree while walking in the area.

Initially, he did not find it suspicious.

An hour later, another witness, I Nyoman Surada, who was working on a nearby construction project, became curious about the bag as he parked his motorcycle.

Surada called Pulawan and the neighborhood leader, Komang Adnyana, to inspect the bag together.

Upon opening it, the three discovered the baby’s body wrapped in a white blanket with pink floral trim inside a gray shopping bag labeled “sandals.”

A black plastic bag containing the placenta, along with a towel, gloves, socks, and a handwritten note, were also found in the bag.

Condition of the Body

The baby girl, measuring 45 centimeters in length, still had her umbilical cord attached. Bruises were observed on her legs, arms, back, and neck, suggesting she had passed away before being placed in the bag.

The police have launched an investigation into the case.

Residents are urged to report any relevant information to assist in identifying the baby’s parents and understanding the circumstances surrounding her death.
