Sportswear giant Adidas has unveiled a new collection that celebrates the natural beauty, culture, and philosophy of Bali through collaborations with local artists Gusde Sidhi and Putu Angga.
The Adidas Bali collection features designs that capture the essence of the Island of the Gods, incorporating Balinese wisdom into illustrations on apparel and accessories.
According to a press release issued in Jakarta on Friday, the Adidas Bali collection includes pieces showcasing four unique designs: “Balinese Smile” and “Harmony of Bali” by Putu Angga, and “Progress” and “Triumph” by Gusde Sidhi.
The “Balinese Smile” design, printed on a white Adidas Originals T-shirt, highlights the warmth and hospitality of the Balinese people alongside the strong bond between the community and its cultural roots.
The “Harmony of Bali” design reflects the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes balance in life. This design is featured on an Adidas Originals tote bag, blending cultural symbolism with practical fashion.
Meanwhile, Gusde Sidhi’s “Progress” design, printed on a blue T-shirt, is inspired by the ancient Balinese saying Manusa Sakti, Dewa Kasor, which conveys the idea that surpassing one’s limits leads to victory over challenges.
The “Triumph” design pays homage to the legendary tale of Garuda’s triumph over Naga in the quest for Tirta Amerta (the elixir of life), symbolizing perseverance as the key to success. This design is showcased on a yellow Adidas Originals T-shirt.
The collection also includes the revival of the Adidas Bali shoe, part of the brand’s Island Series.
First released in 1977, the Adidas Bali was praised for its quality, unique design, and rarity. The current version retains its original silhouette and details that made it a collector’s favorite.
The current version features soft suede in ‘Chalk Blue’ with sea-blue stripes and a tactile steel rubber midsole, evoking Bali’s oceanic hues. Unlike the classic Samba design, the Adidas Bali has a sleeker, low-profile look without the T-toe detail. A special “Bali” branding on the tongue and vintage-style packaging add to its appeal.
Part of Adidas’ Island Series, the “SS25 Bali Pack” collection has been available since December 1, 2024. The T-shirts are priced at IDR 600,000, while the tote bags are available for IDR 700,000.
