A man from Australia was injured after jumping from the third floor of a hotel in Denpasar, Bali, following an argument with his partner in the early hours of the morning. The incident occurred at a hotel located on Jalan Saraswati.

The individual, identified by initials DL, reportedly got into a heated dispute with his partner, identified only as C, around 4:00 AM Central Indonesia Time (WITA). According to the Head of Public Relations of the Denpasar Police, AKP I Ketut Sukadi, the quarrel took place inside the couple’s hotel room and was loud enough to be heard by other guests staying at the hotel.

“The victim attempted suicide by jumping from the balcony of the 3rd floor where he was staying. Fortunately, the victim fell on the balcony on the 2nd floor so he could still be saved,” said Sukadi in his statement, Sunday (27/7/2025).

Incident Witnessed by Hotel Staff

During the altercation, DL took the drastic step of jumping from the third-floor balcony. Fortunately, his fall was partially broken when he landed on the balcony of the second floor. The dangerous act was witnessed by a hotel staff member, who immediately took action by contacting a medical doctor and personnel from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Badung to provide assistance.

DL was safely evacuated from the second-floor balcony with the help of the responding medical and emergency team.

“After getting off, the foreigner was taken to BIMC Hospital to get help,” said Sukadi.

No Life-Threatening Injuries Reported

Despite the severity of the fall, DL did not suffer life-threatening injuries. Sukadi confirmed that the man sustained a fractured tailbone but avoided more serious trauma as the fall was effectively limited to a single floor due to the second-floor balcony halting his descent.

Authorities have yet to disclose the specific cause of the argument between DL and his partner, and there is no indication at this time of any criminal element involved.

“The information is that until now he is still being treated in the hospital,” concluded Sukadi.

Ongoing Monitoring of the Victim’s Condition

As of the latest update, DL is recovering from his injuries. There is no further information on whether he will require extended medical treatment or if he remains under observation. Law enforcement officials have not released additional details on whether further action will be taken in relation to the incident.

The Denpasar Police have confirmed the facts of the case based on witness testimony and the observations of hotel staff. No additional statements have been made regarding possible follow-up investigations.
