PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) has commenced the construction of Bali Benoa Marina, Indonesia’s first premium marina, located within the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) at Benoa Port, Bali. The project reflects the company’s initiative to enhance maritime tourism infrastructure in the region and is aligned with broader goals of regional economic transformation.
According to Drajat Sulistyo, Director of Strategy at PT Pelabuhan Indonesia, the development of BMTH serves as a manifestation of the state-owned enterprise’s commitment to advancing regional economies through the tourism sector. He noted that the presence of Bali Benoa Marina is a critical component of this broader strategy.
“BMTH is not only a port, but a center of marine tourism activities that is integrated with logistics, shipping and tourism infrastructure. We continue to be committed to realizing this region as an international maritime hub,” said Drajat in a press release, Wednesday (23/7/2025).
Integrated Development Approach Across 3.3 Hectares
The marina is being developed over a 3.3-hectare area and is divided into three distinct zones. Each zone is designed to accommodate various functions, with integrated green open spaces enhancing the layout. The facility is expected to host up to 180 yachts, including 50 superyachts with lengths reaching up to 90 meters.
Facilities planned for the marina include yacht berths and supporting infrastructure to serve international maritime tourism. The project aims to elevate Indonesia’s profile in the global yachting and cruise industries by offering a modern, high-capacity port destination in Bali.
Logistics and Sustainability in Focus
As part of the ecosystem supporting the BMTH, PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL) plays a central role in logistical support for the marina development. SPSL President Director Joko Noerhuda confirmed that the company is handling the distribution of equipment and materials needed for construction. He emphasized that SPSL’s contribution aligns with an integrated and sustainability-focused development model.
“We realize collaboration with various parties through the synergy of yacht marina projects, strengthening integrated logistics services, and managing supporting areas that support maritime tourism activities as a whole,” said Joko Noerhuda.
SPSL is also involved in hinterland development and provides logistical services necessary for the marina’s operation, contributing to a broader maritime tourism infrastructure in the region.
Government Endorsement for Maritime Tourism Expansion
The initiative has received support from the Ministry of Tourism. Minister Widyanti Putri Wardana expressed appreciation for the efforts by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia, acknowledging the strategic value of establishing the first premium marina in Indonesia. She noted that the presence of Bali Benoa Marina is expected to strengthen the country’s maritime tourism appeal.
Operational Timeline and Future Outlook
The Bali Benoa Marina is scheduled to begin initial operations in the fourth quarter of 2025. Full operational capability, including all supporting facilities, is targeted for 2027.
This development is considered a milestone in the transformation of Benoa Port into a center for maritime tourism, reinforcing Indonesia’s positioning in the global luxury yacht and marine tourism sector.
