Bali has been named the third-best island in the world in the 2025 edition of Travel + Leisure’s “World’s Best Awards.” The announcement was made on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, and places Bali just below Paros in Greece, which took the top spot, and Palawan in the Philippines, which ranked second.

The annual ranking, based on votes from readers of Travel + Leisure, evaluates islands around the world based on several criteria, including natural attractions, cultural richness, accommodations, and overall experience. Bali received a score of 93.25, reaffirming its long-standing reputation as a favorite global destination.

Diverse Tourism Offerings Across Bali Highlighted

Travel + Leisure described Bali as a “consistently popular island” known for its distinctive culture and religion, noting the presence of more than 10,000 temples across the island. The review also praised Bali’s accommodation options, specifically highlighting the Anantara Ubud Bali Resort, which was recently included in the magazine’s curated “T+L Editors’ Picks” list.

Despite its relatively compact geography, the publication emphasized the diversity of experiences Bali offers. Visitors can explore seaside destinations such as Uluwatu and Seminyak, then travel inland to areas featuring rice terraces and cooler highlands.

Southern Bali Remains the Tourism Epicenter

The southern region of Bali continues to serve as the focal point for most tourism activity. According to Travel + Leisure, this area is home to luxury resorts, scenic beach clubs, and world-class restaurants offering a range of culinary options, from health-conscious menus to high-end cuisine.

In addition to modern amenities, Bali’s cultural heritage remains a central attraction. Tourists can witness traditional dance performances at temples, participate in spiritual experiences, and visit remote areas that are less frequented by mainstream tourism.

Ubud Highlighted as a Cultural Hub

One of the destinations mentioned prominently in the magazine’s review is Ubud, which it describes as the cultural capital of Bali. Known for its tranquil ambiance, Ubud is popular among travelers seeking relaxation and immersion in nature. The town features a wide array of exclusive accommodations situated within natural surroundings, contributing to its reputation as a retreat destination.

Recognition for Consistent International Appeal

Bali’s inclusion in the 2025 list is not its first appearance. According to Travel + Leisure, the island has been nominated in the same category for 11 consecutive years, demonstrating its sustained popularity among international travelers.

The recognition by Travel + Leisure once again positions Bali as a leading destination within the global tourism landscape, with consistent appeal based on its blend of cultural depth, natural beauty, and hospitality infrastructure.
