Indonesia’s Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, officially inaugurated the Immigration Patrol Task Force in Bali on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The inauguration ceremony, held at Benoa Harbor in Denpasar, was attended by around 500 participants from the Immigration Office, Corrections Office, Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and Pecalang (traditional Balinese security personnel).

The event was also witnessed by the Governor of Bali, the Speaker of the Bali Provincial Legislative Council, the Bali Regional Police Chief, the Commander of the IX/Udayana Military Command, the Bali High Prosecutor, and several heads of vertical agencies and provincial-level departments. In his remarks, Agus emphasized the role of Immigration as the leading sector in monitoring foreign nationals in Indonesia.

“The establishment of the Immigration Patrol Task Force is a follow-up to the President’s directive to ensure stability and security in Bali as one of Indonesia’s main tourist destinations,” Agus explained. The legal basis of the Immigration Patrol Task Force includes Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, Article 66 paragraph 2 letter b, Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 31 of 2013, Article 181.

Purpose and Focus of Monitoring

Agus explained that the formation of the Patrol Task Force aims to provide a quick response in the event of violations, reduce regulatory breaches by foreigners in Bali, and ensure a sense of security for the public. The establishment of this dedicated unit is expected to enhance the effectiveness of field monitoring.

The task force will comprise 100 immigration officers, each equipped with protective vests and body cameras. Patrols will be conducted using immigration patrol motorcycles or vehicles, covering 10 strategic points within the operational areas of Ngurah Rai and Denpasar Immigration Offices. These points include North Kuta (Canggu), Seminyak, Kerobokan, Matahari Terbit Harbor, Benoa Harbor, Pecatu (Uluwatu, Bingin), Mertasari Beach, Kuta District, Gianyar (Ubud), Nusa Dua, and Jimbaran.

Patrol Mechanism and Schedule

Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, stated that team leaders and patrol officers will follow predetermined routes, focusing on areas considered prone to immigration violations or locations with high concentrations of foreign nationals. Patrol movements will be scheduled regularly and randomly to prevent easily predictable patterns.

Performance Data and Law Enforcement Actions

The inauguration of the task force comes amid notable achievements by the Directorate General of Immigration in immigration law enforcement. Official statistics show that between November and December 2024, there were 607 deportations and 303 detentions.

From January to July 2025, these numbers rose significantly to 2,669 deportations and 2,009 detentions. Additionally, 62 foreign nationals have been prosecuted from November 2024 to July 2025.

Next Steps

With the Immigration Patrol Task Force in Bali now formally established, scheduled and random patrols will begin operating in accordance with the procedures set. Immigration authorities have stated they will continue to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the task force in reducing immigration violations in the Bali region.

“In the future, we will continue to intensify similar operations, both on a local scale such as the Task Force routine patrol and on a national scale such as Wira Waspada. This is to help maintain national security stability, provide a deterrent effect so that violations do not occur, and maintain public trust in immigration,” Yuldi concluded.
