The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province reported that foreign tourist arrivals to Bali reached 697,110 in July 2025. The figure represents an 11.42 percent increase compared with July 2024, when 625,670 arrivals were recorded.

According to the agency, this is the highest monthly total of international visitors in 2025 to date. The positive trend further strengthens Bali’s position as one of Indonesia’s leading tourism destinations.

“Foreign tourists visiting Bali in July 2025 were mostly carried out by Australian tourists at 23.10 percent, Chinese at 8.56 percent, and Indian at 6.50 percent,” said Chairman of Public Relations of BPS Bali Province Ari Kurnianto in a written statement, Monday (1/9/2025).

Cumulative Arrivals for 2025 Approach 4 Million

From January through July 2025, the cumulative number of foreign tourists visiting Bali reached 3.98 million. The figure marks a 12.46 percent increase over the same period in 2024.

BPS Bali Head Ari stated that the upward trend in foreign tourist arrivals has been consistent throughout the year. He noted that July’s performance contributed significantly to the cumulative total.

Domestic Tourism Sees Strong Growth

Alongside international visitors, Bali also experienced a surge in domestic tourism. In July 2025, the number of trips made by domestic tourists was recorded at 2.29 million. This represents a year-on-year increase of 31.96 percent compared with July 2024.

The statistics highlight the continued importance of domestic travelers in supporting Bali’s tourism sector. The large volume of local trips provides balance to the island’s tourism activity, particularly during peak holiday periods.

“Of the number of trips, 78.46 percent or 1.80 million trips are inter-district/city trips within the province (intra). Meanwhile, the number of inter-district/city trips reached 494.01 thousand trips or 21.54 percent,” he explained.

Badung Remains the Main Destination

Within Bali, Badung Regency was the leading destination for domestic tourists. The number of trips recorded in the area reached 604,710 in July 2025. Popular destinations in Badung include Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, and Nusa Dua, which are among the island’s most visited areas.

BPS further reported that East Java was the largest source of domestic tourists to Bali during the month. A total of 172,260 trips originated from the province, underscoring the strong travel link between East Java and Bali.

“The room occupancy rate (TPK) of star hotels in July 2025 was recorded at 67.75 percent, an increase of 3.10 percentage points compared to June 2025. Meanwhile, the occupancy rate of non-star hotel rooms was recorded at 49.00 percent, an increase of 2.90 percentage points when compared to June 2025,” he said.

Outlook for the Remainder of the Year

The data released by BPS Bali indicates that both international and domestic tourism are showing sustained growth in 2025. With foreign arrivals nearing the four-million mark by the end of July, Bali is positioned to close the year with higher totals than in 2024 if the current trend continues.

The July figures also underline the dual importance of international and domestic tourism flows. While global travel demand contributes significantly to the island’s visitor numbers, domestic tourists remain a consistent and substantial driver of overall activity.
