A video circulating on social media has drawn attention in Bali after a Russian national, identified as Sergei Domogatskii, claimed to have been kidnapped and assaulted by individuals wearing old-style police uniforms. The incident came to light after the video was uploaded to the Instagram account @mr.terimakasih, prompting the Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) to launch an investigation into the allegations.

In the viral post, Sergei alleged that two men wearing face masks intercepted him while he was riding a motorbike in Bali. He claimed that the assailants forced him to a house located in a hilly area, where he was subjected to physical abuse for approximately three hours.

“They dragged me into the car, put sacks on my head, tied me up, and beat me. I don’t think that they are real police, because the police uniform they wear is an old model,” wrote the Instagram account @mr.thank you, in an upload seen by detikBali, Tuesday (21/10/2025).

“There I was beaten and tortured with a stun gun. They also put a bag on my head and strangled me,” he added.

Victim Files Police Report

Following the alleged assault, Sergei reported the incident to the local police in Bali. In his account, he suggested that the attackers may be part of a group that has been involved in similar criminal activities on the island for some time.

“More than 20 people have been victims of them,” he continued.

Sergei, who is known on social media for his charitable work in Indonesia, has frequently shared posts highlighting his humanitarian activities during his stay in Bali. His online presence and community involvement have gained him a degree of recognition among local residents and social media users.

Bali Police Respond to Allegations

In response to the claims circulating online, Bali Police have taken steps to verify the authenticity of the video and the allegations made. The Head of Public Relations for Polda Bali, Commissioner Ariasandy, confirmed that the police are currently investigating the matter. He also urged the owner of the Instagram account that published the video to make a formal report to the authorities to ensure a thorough and lawful investigation.

“We also appeal to the public not to hesitate to report any violations of the law experienced or encountered. The Bali Police and its staff are ready to handle and follow up on every complaint professionally and transparently,” said Kombes Ariasandy, in his statement, Tuesday (21/10/2025).

“The Bali Police is committed to serving every public complaint professionally and transparently,” said Ariasandy.

Unverified Details Under Review

While the video and claims have generated significant online attention, authorities have yet to confirm the identities of the alleged perpetrators or the authenticity of the police uniforms mentioned by Sergei. Investigators are currently working to determine whether the individuals involved were indeed members of law enforcement or if they were using police-style clothing to disguise their identities.
