An unidentified foreign tourist was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Pohcaboll Road, located in Pejukutan Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency, Bali, on Sunday afternoon, October 26, 2025. The incident, which was captured on video by resident Kadek Soma, quickly spread across social media platforms.

According to local authorities, the tourist lost control while descending the steep and winding road on a Fazzio scooter. The motorbike veered off the path and fell into nearby bushes. Despite the dramatic fall, the rider was found safe and sustained no reported injuries.

“The victim survived. We appeal to tourists to be careful on extreme routes and ensure vehicles are in good condition,” said Nusa Penida Police Chief, AKP I Ketut Kesuma Jaya, Monday (27/10/2025).

Motorbike Sustains Minor Damage

Officials confirmed that the vehicle involved in the incident suffered only minor damage. The motorbike, a Yamaha Fazzio, appeared to have slid several meters before coming to a stop in the vegetation along the roadside. Residents nearby assisted the tourist in retrieving the vehicle from the area shortly after the accident.

Loss of Control on Challenging Terrain

Kesuma, a local authority representative, explained that the crash occurred purely due to a loss of control. The tourist, unfamiliar with the steep terrain and sharp curves, was unable to maintain balance as the motorbike accelerated on the descent.

He emphasized that no other vehicles were involved and that the incident was not caused by external factors such as poor road conditions or mechanical failure. Instead, it was attributed to the rider’s lack of experience in handling a motorbike on such demanding terrain.

Caution Urged for Motorbike Rentals

Kesuma also called on local motorbike rental operators to be more selective in renting to foreign visitors. He advised them to ensure that renters are adequately skilled and informed about the road conditions, particularly in areas known for steep gradients and sharp turns, such as Pohcaboll Road.

“We also appeal to foreign tenants to be educated about terrain conditions and driving techniques on steep roads or not to rent vehicles to tourist who do not understand how to operate an automatic motorcycle,” Kesuma requested.

Road Known for Its Challenging Conditions

Pohcaboll Road in Pejukutan Village is recognized as one of Nusa Penida’s more challenging routes. The combination of narrow lanes, sharp curves, and steep inclines makes navigation challenging, especially for inexperienced riders. Local authorities have repeatedly urged caution among tourists who explore the island by motorbike, as the area’s geography can easily lead to accidents if not approached with care.
