Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya has called on all police units across the province to heighten vigilance against potential security threats during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holiday period, commonly referred to as Nataru. The appeal was delivered during the Police Force Roll Call for the Centralized Police Operation Lilin 2025, held on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Speaking at the event, Daniel emphasized that a significant increase in public activities, including travel, religious observances, and public gatherings marks the year-end holiday season. According to him, these conditions require enhanced security measures to prevent any disruptions, including potential acts of terrorism.
“In this case, the 110 police emergency service is expected to be the main means of receiving reports and requests for public assistance to be followed up quickly and completely,” he said.
Increased Vigilance During Peak Holiday Activity
Daniel stated that the Christmas and New Year holidays represent a period of elevated public mobility and congregation. This situation, he said, necessitates extra caution from law enforcement agencies to ensure that all activities proceed safely and in an orderly manner.
He reminded officers that the high volume of community activity at this time requires proactive security planning. This includes anticipating possible threats and ensuring that preventive measures are in place before incidents occur.
Security Focus on Public Spaces and Places of Worship
As part of the security strategy, Daniel instructed police units to tighten security at crowded locations and places of worship. He stressed that churches and other sites hosting Christmas services, as well as areas used for New Year celebrations, must receive special attention.
The police chief stated that security arrangements should ensure that religious services and year-end celebrations can take place without disruption. He specifically instructed officers to prevent any disturbance, however minor, during these events.
Mapping Vulnerable Areas and Strengthening Patrols
In addition to addressing potential terror threats, Daniel also highlighted the importance of preventing conventional crimes during the holiday period. He directed police units to conduct thorough mapping of areas considered prone to criminal activity.
Routine patrols are to be intensified, particularly during high-risk hours and at high-risk locations. Daniel also instructed that these patrols involve community-based security groups, known as Pengamanan Swakarsa, as part of broader preventive efforts.
Emphasis on Rapid Response and Public Communication
Daniel underscored the need for rapid-response capabilities to address various situations that may arise during the holiday season. He stated that prompt and effective action in the field is a crucial component of public service during Nataru.
He also reminded officers that all operational activities should align with appropriate public communication strategies. According to Daniel, clear and accurate communication is essential to ensure the public understands the purpose and scope of the security measures being implemented.
“In this case, the 110 police emergency service is expected to be the main means of receiving reports and requests for public assistance to be followed up quickly and completely,” he said.
