Indonesian authorities have arrested a foreign national from the United States, identified as Anthony Jamar Prioleau, at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. The arrest took place at the international arrivals terminal after the suspect briefly attempted to escape while being escorted by officers.
“The foreigner fled the drop zone area,” said Head of Public Relations of the Regional Police, Kombes Ariasandy, on Sunday (18/1/2026)
Detention Following International Alert
Anthony Jamar Prioleau arrived in Bali on Saturday, January 17, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM Central Indonesia Time. He landed on EVA Air flight BR 225 operating on the Taipei to Denpasar route. According to airport immigration officials, officers had received advance information from United States Embassy staff shortly before his arrival.
The information indicated that Anthony was suspected of involvement in a murder case in the United States. Embassy staff also provided identifying physical characteristics to assist immigration officers in recognizing the suspect upon arrival. Based on this information, officers coordinated to intercept him at the international arrivals terminal.
“The officers have identified Jamar and arrested him,” said Ariasandy
Attempted Escape at the Airport
After landing, Anthony was approached and, without resistance, initially secured by immigration officers and police. He was then escorted toward the immigration office inside the airport for further examination.
During the escort process, however, Anthony managed to break away from the officers. The suspect ran through an emergency exit and moved toward the drop zone area outside the terminal building.
Swift Recapture by Officers
Despite the escape attempt, the suspect did not manage to leave the international arrivals area. Airport security measures and the terminal’s controlled-access layout prevented him from leaving the restricted zone.
Immigration officers quickly pursued Anthony and succeeded in apprehending him again before he could leave the terminal area. He was then escorted back into the airport and taken to the immigration examination room without further incident.
“Furthermore, the foreign citizen from the US was taken to the Immigration office in Jimbaran by the officers in a safe and smooth condition,” he said.
