The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency Regional Centre III Denpasar has issued an advisory urging the public to remain alert to potential extreme weather conditions across Bali from 11 to 18 December 2025. The warning was issued after BMKG identified the formation of Tropical Cyclone Seed 93S, which is currently influencing regional atmospheric dynamics during the forecast period.
“We urge you always to be vigilant and to take anticipatory steps so that daily activities can run smoothly and safely,” said Head of BBMKG Region III Cahyo Nugroho in Denpasar, Thursday.
According to BMKG, the system has shown significant development and may increase rainfall intensity across much of Bali. This heightened weather activity is being driven by several atmospheric factors detected around the cyclone seed.
Atmospheric Factors Contributing to Severe Weather Potential
BMKG reported that Tropical Cyclone Seed 93S is being strengthened by the active Equatorial Rossby waves and low-frequency waves present around the system. Additionally, weak wind shear and moderate vorticity in the lower to mid atmospheric layers have created conditions favourable for the growth of rain clouds and further intensification of the system.
The agency also detected convergence of air masses around the system, which may increase moisture levels and promote more intense cloud formation. These conditions are expected to increase wind speeds and increase wave activity in surrounding waters.
Regions at Risk of Weather Impacts
BMKG has identified several areas in Bali that may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds. These areas include Badung, Denpasar, Tabanan, Jembrana, Bangli, Gianyar, Karangasem, Klungkung, and Buleleng.
These regions face risks of flooding, flash flooding, and landslides, with vulnerability levels varying by location based on their risk profiles. Predictions of rising wave heights across several maritime zones around Bali also support unstable weather conditions.
High Wave Warnings for Coastal Areas
In addition to heavy rainfall and strong winds, BMKG has warned the public of possible wave heights of 1.25-2.5 meters. The areas expected to be affected include the southern Bali Strait, the Badung Strait, the southern Lombok Strait, and the southern waters of Bali. These conditions require particular attention for marine activities and local fishermen operating in those waters.
Advisory to Monitor Weather Updates
BMKG strongly encourages the public to continue monitoring weather updates via the InfoBMKG application and the official bmkg.go.id website. Regular updates are essential to anticipate shifts in atmospheric conditions, as weather systems can evolve in response to regional dynamics.
