Eight people were injured after two fast boats collided in the waters near Banjar Nyuh, Nusa Penida, on Thursday, 27 November 2025, in the afternoon. Authorities confirmed that the vessels involved were Wijaya Buyuk 1 and Bintang Laut Diving. The passengers who sustained injuries included foreign nationals from the United States and South Korea, along with Indonesian citizens.

Sequence of Events Before the Impact

According to the Nusa Penida Police Chief AKP I Ketut Kesuma Jaya, the incident occurred shortly after midday on 27 November 2025. Information gathered from the captain of Wijaya Buyuk 1, I Wayan Sarjana, indicates that his vessel departed Sanur at 07.20 WITA with 62 passengers and 4 crew members. The boat was en route to Buyuk Harbor when the captain noticed Bintang Laut Diving approaching from the north at high speed.

“Communication efforts were made both through the call of the captain and passengers, but the boat did not respond until it finally hit the left side of the Wijaya Buyuk 1 Fast Boat. The impact caused the tip of the diving boat to rise and penetrate the rear glass of the ship,” said Kesuma Jaya to detikBali, Thursday (27/11/2025).

The captain reported that the oncoming vessel appeared to be moving uncontrollably. Moments later, the two boats collided in the waters off Banjar Nyuh, a known transit area for fast boat operations in the region.
