FINNS Bali has introduced two technological initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable tourism and improving safety measures in Bali.

During the Future Nation Day event on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, at FINNS Beach Club in Canggu, the company presented a search and rescue helicopter and an environmentally friendly beach-cleaning robot named BeBot. The event carried the theme “Party Like There is A Tomorrow” and showcased various sustainability programs by the company.

“Our hope is to inspire other hospitality business actors and leaders in Bali and throughout Indonesia to take part,” said ESG Manager at FINNS Bali, Abdul Manaf, in his statement, Thursday (21/8/2025).

SAR Helicopter to Strengthen Emergency Response

The helicopter initiative was developed through a partnership between FINNS Bali and SGi Air Bali. The aircraft, a Bell model, is scheduled to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2025. Once operational, it will be stationed in Benoa and is expected to significantly enhance emergency response capacity for both residents and visitors.

According to the company, the helicopter will be capable of reaching any part of Bali within 20 minutes. It will also be able to fly to Mount Rinjani in neighboring West Nusa Tenggara in about 45 minutes. This development is positioned to provide faster access in cases of search and rescue missions across the island and surrounding areas.

“This rescue helicopter is the first in Bali and is the result of FINNS’ collaboration with SGi Air Bali,” he added.

BeBot Robot Targets Microplastic Pollution

Alongside the helicopter, FINNS Bali also introduced BeBot, a remote-controlled, eco-friendly robot developed by Searial Cleaners. BeBot has been deployed on FINNS’ beachfront area to collect microplastics and small waste items.

Abdul Manaf, representing the initiative, stated that BeBot operates daily and covers approximately 5,600 square meters of beach per day, equivalent to over 168,000 square meters per month. The robot is designed to support cleaner coastal environments while reducing manual beach-cleaning needs.

“This is a great hope for sustainable beach cleanliness management,” said Abdul Manaf.

“We are proud to partner with pioneering organizations such as Searial Cleaners, SGi Air Bali, and Stella’s Child to help build a more sustainable future for future generations,” he added.

Broader Sustainability Programs

Beyond the introduction of new technology, FINNS Bali has also reported progress in its broader sustainability efforts. The company has redirected 1,001,628 kilograms of waste away from landfills, with only 20 percent of its waste currently ending up in landfill sites. In addition, FINNS has recycled 82.3 million liters of water to date.

“Next year, FINNS targets to reach 95 percent,” said Abdul Manaf.

Through its Culture Circle program, FINNS has introduced biodegradable ceremonial tools that avoid single-use plastics. Educational initiatives on waste management are also conducted through FINNS Academy, beginning with the Canggu Community School, in collaboration with the Badung Government, Community Waste Project, Merah Putih Hijau, local NGOs, and schools.

Education and Social Partnerships

The company has also partnered with several organizations to support educational and social initiatives. Collaborations with SoleFamily, Stella’s Child, and internal programs have provided education and training for 1,038 children and young people.

These efforts aim to contribute to long-term community development alongside environmental initiatives.

Next Steps

Both the helicopter and BeBot represent ongoing commitments by FINNS Bali to integrate technology into sustainability and safety measures.

The helicopter is set to become operational by the end of 2025, while BeBot continues daily operations on the beachfront. FINNS has indicated that these projects are part of a broader framework of environmental management and community-focused programs.
