
Apple Developer Academy @BINUS Bali has officially begun operations following an inauguration by Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. The academy represents part of Apple’s investment commitment in Indonesia and is expected to play a significant role in advancing the country’s digital talent ecosystem.
“This inauguration not only marks Apple’s investment progress in innovation in Indonesia, but also opens up greater opportunities for the growth of innovation in the country. We look forward to continuing partnerships with Apple in Indonesia,” said Agus Gumiwang in a written statement, Thursday (28/8/2025).
First Apple Academy in Asia
Located at Parc23 in Badung, the Apple Developer Academy @BINUS Bali is the first of its kind in Asia. The program is the result of collaboration between Apple and BINUS University and offers a nine-month intensive curriculum. The academy is open to individuals aged 18 and above, regardless of their educational background.
Modern Facilities for Collaboration
The academy has a capacity of 220 participants per cohort and is equipped with modern facilities designed to support creative and inclusive learning. These include flexible learning areas, collaboration rooms, and conference spaces intended to encourage innovation and teamwork among participants.
Commitment to Innovation and Local Industry
According to Minister Agus Gumiwang, the establishment of the Apple Developer Academy in Bali marks an important milestone in the development of Indonesia’s national digital ecosystem. He emphasized that the program supports the implementation of innovation-based local content requirements.
The cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Apple has been formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU serves as a foundation for the continuation of the Apple Developer Academy and other innovation development programs in Indonesia.
Beyond the Academy: Broader Programs
The collaboration between the Indonesian government and Apple is not limited to the academy itself. Other initiatives include the Apple Professional Developers Institute and the Apple Software Research and Development Center in Indonesia. These programs are conducted in partnership with universities and are integrated into the Indonesia Chips Design Collaborative Center (ICDEC).
“The opening of the Apple Developer Academy @BINUS Bali today is part of this commitment, as well as tangible evidence of Apple’s contribution in increasing the capacity of Indonesia’s digital talent and strengthening the national innovation ecosystem,” explained Agus Gumiwang.
Industry Perspective
Setia Diarta, Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics (ILMATE) at the Ministry of Industry, highlighted the importance of the academy and related programs for strengthening the national industrial ecosystem. He noted that initiatives such as these are vital to preparing local talent for future technological developments.

Minister Agus Gumiwang expressed appreciation for the ongoing presence of the Apple Developer Academy program in Indonesia. He underlined the significance of its sustainability as part of broader efforts to support national innovation and technological advancement.
