A foreign tourist sustained a serious leg injury while jogging on the pedestrian path at Kuta Beach, Badung, Bali, on Wednesday afternoon, September 3, 2025. The incident, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. local time, gained attention on social media after a video showing the tourist in pain was widely circulated.
The footage depicted the male tourist seated on the ground holding his injured leg, while several people attempted to provide assistance. Eyewitnesses reported that the man appeared to be in significant discomfort and struggled to stand or walk following the fall.
According to initial information, the tourist may have fractured his leg after stepping on a section of the pathway that had been damaged for several months. He was subsequently taken to a hospital by local residents for medical treatment.
Pathway Damage Reported for Months
The pedestrian path where the accident occurred has been in disrepair for approximately three months. Large waves repeatedly struck the coastal area, shifting the concrete slabs that make up the walkway. The condition has led to uneven surfaces and gaps along sections of the route frequently used by both locals and visitors.
“Last year it was broken, it has been repaired. When the tide breaks again. We have installed signs so that it is not passed, but there are some who may not see the path damaged,” said Kuta Beach Destination Manager, I Nyoman Arya Arimbawa.
Arya, a local figure familiar with the situation, confirmed that the walkway damage has previously caused several accidents involving visitors. He noted that the matter had already been brought to the attention of the Badung Regency Government, with requests for urgent repairs.
Official Response from Kuta Traditional Village
Bendesa Adat Kuta, I Komang Alit Ardana, stated that he has formally requested the Badung Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) and the Badung Regional Secretary to take immediate action. He emphasized the importance of resolving the issue promptly to ensure visitor comfort and safety at Kuta Beach.
“We have received news that the repair is imminent. I myself have been contacted by the regional secretary, tomorrow I will be checked by PUPR Badung,” explained Alit Ardana.
