A French national identified by the initials SQAA, aged 33, was arrested by police on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong in North Kuta, Badung, after allegedly driving recklessly and carrying suspected narcotics. The incident occurred on Friday, 28 November 2025, when traffic conditions in the area were reported to be congested.

“Yes, the incident (arrest) is true,” said the Head of the Badung Police Public Relations Subsipenmas, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, contacted by detikBali, Sunday (30/11/2025).

Authorities stated that the arrest began with routine traffic monitoring by a police officer stationed near the busy roadway. SQAA was observed riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet and operating the vehicle in a disorderly manner. His actions drew the officer’s attention, who attempted to stop him due to safety concerns and the heavy traffic at the time.

Officer Struck During Attempted Stop

According to accounts obtained by police, SQAA did not respond to instructions to slow down. Instead, he continued riding erratically and made contact with the officer, causing the officer to be sideswiped. The involved officer then coordinated with other members of the police unit to pursue the individual.

The situation escalated into a chase that lasted more than one hour. Police officers tracked SQAA throughout the area and eventually located him at the parking lot of a café in the North Kuta area.

Arrest and Alleged Resistance

Upon being approached by officers, SQAA reportedly resisted attempts to detain him. Police stated that force was required to secure the suspect, leading officers to handcuff him to ensure the situation remained under control.

Following the arrest, officers searched and found substances believed to be cocaine along with liquid cannabis extract, commonly referred to as THC. The materials were discovered in SQAA’s possession at the time of the search.

Investigation Underway

Authorities confirmed that the case is now under deeper examination. Police representative Ayu stated that the investigation is ongoing and that efforts are being made to clarify the circumstances surrounding the foreign national’s involvement. The substances confiscated during the arrest will undergo further assessment as part of the process.

“We are still investigating. We will release it on Monday,” said Ayu.
