Following the closure of Parq Ubud, commonly referred to as the “Russian Village,” a German national (53) was named a suspect by Bali Police for illegally converting agricultural land in Ubud.
Alleged Land Misuse
Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya revealed that the land, belonging to Parq Ubud, was used to construct villas, a spa center, and animal farms without proper permits.
“The perpetrator built on protected rice fields and sustainable agricultural land (LP2B) designated as a food crop sub-zone, violating zoning regulations,” Adityajaya stated during a press release on 28 January 2025.
Findings and Investigation
The suspect, also a director of PT Tomorrow Land Development Bali and PT Alfa Management Bali, faces charges related to illegal land conversion, including breaches of regulations aimed at protecting sustainable farming and preserving food production zones.
The Gianyar Regency Government had already shut down Parq Ubud’s accommodation business on 20 January 2025 for violating regional regulations.
The case underscores concerns about land use in Bali, where illegal developments threaten protected agricultural zones.
