Bali has been experiencing heavy rainfall since Tuesday, September 9, 2025, continuing into Wednesday, September 10. The persistent downpour has led to flooding in several areas, including Klungkung and Denpasar.
Reports shared through local monitoring channels indicated that flooding was particularly severe in Denpasar on Wednesday morning. Water inundated Jalan Raya Teuku Umar Barat, making sections of the road hazardous for motorists attempting to pass through.
Floods and Property Damage Reported
According to resident accounts, the water flow in some areas was strong enough to pose risks for road users. In addition, heavy rain that began overnight in Denpasar caused the river along Jalan Hasanudin to overflow. The rising current led to the collapse of a residential structure located behind Kohinoor, directly across from BCA KCU Denpasar, on Wednesday morning.
As of the latest updates, authorities have not confirmed any casualties linked to the flooding or the damaged property.
BMKG Issues Weather Forecast
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has advised residents to remain alert, particularly those living near rivers, as rainfall is expected to continue. Brian Eko Permadi, a forecaster from BMKG Region III, stated on Tuesday, September 9, that rain of moderate to heavy intensity accompanied by lightning and strong winds is likely to persist through Wednesday, September 10.
He explained that atmospheric disturbances influence the current conditions. “There is an active Rossby wave that triggers the accumulation of clouds in affected regions, which has caused moderate to heavy rainfall. In addition, recent hot weather has contributed to higher evaporation, resulting in increased cloud formation,” Permadi noted.
In a separate public update on social media, BMKG emphasized that while the weather system is expected to last until September 10, rainfall intensity is predicted to decrease gradually.
Current Conditions Across Bali
Based on monitoring by BMKG’s regional office, the general weather forecast for Bali on Wednesday indicates light rain across much of the island. Air temperatures are projected to range between 19 and 32 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels between 65 and 95 percent.
Despite the forecast of lighter conditions later in the day, the agency has reiterated its call for caution, particularly in flood-prone and riverbank areas, due to the still-elevated rainfall levels recorded in parts of Denpasar.
