Indonesia has updated its visa exemption policy following the issuance of Ministerial Regulation on Immigration and Corrections Number 10 of 2025. According to the latest directive, Peru, Brazil, and Turkiye have been added to the list of countries whose citizens may enter Indonesia without a visa. The update has been in effect since 12 August 2024.
The revision expands Indonesia’s long-standing visa waiver arrangements for eligible foreign nationals who meet specific country criteria. The exemption allows travelers to enter Indonesian territory for designated short-term purposes without the need to obtain a Visit Visa before arrival.
Countries and Entities Eligible for Visa-Free Entry
The most recent list includes Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Myanmar, Laos, Timor Leste, Suriname, Colombia, Hong Kong, Turkiye, Brazil, and Peru. The policy also applies to foreign nationals who hold Singapore Permanent Resident status, provided they enter through specified immigration checkpoints.
The regulation outlines that these countries and entities meet the requirements established by the Indonesian government for visa-free access. Eligibility does not extend beyond the named countries and categories.
Key Terms of the Visa Exemption
Authorities describe the visa exemption as a facility granted to foreign nationals from designated countries. It allows them to enter Indonesia without a Visit Visa for a limited and clearly defined purpose. Stays are limited to a maximum of 30 days, beginning on the date of arrival.
The exemption is issued strictly for a single entry into Indonesia. It cannot be converted into another type of stay permit and is not eligible for extension. Once the permitted 30-day period expires, the foreign national must depart the country in accordance with Indonesian immigration regulations.
Immigration officials emphasize that the exemption is designed for short-term visits only. Any activities outside the permitted purpose or duration are subject to regulations requiring a different visa type.
Implementation Based on Updated Regulation
The update provided through Ministerial Regulation Number 10 of 2025 formalizes Peru, Brazil, and Turkiye as the newest additions to the program. The inclusion has been active since August 2024 and reflects the current operational framework used by Indonesian immigration authorities.
Travelers from countries on the approved list may use the exemption by presenting valid travel documents at designated entry points. Foreign nationals who are Singapore Permanent Residents must enter through the specific immigration checkpoints identified under the updated policy.
