A Romanian citizen identified as Zuleam Costinel Cosmin has been arrested by police in Denpasar, Bali, in connection with an alleged violent robbery case. The arrest was carried out as part of an international law enforcement operation involving Interpol and Indonesian authorities.

The Head of Public Relations of Bali Police, Senior Commissioner Ariasandy, confirmed that the suspect was apprehended on Thursday, January 15, 2026. He stated that Zuleam had been listed as a fugitive in Romania, with a formal arrest warrant issued by a Romanian court, prior to his detention in Indonesia.

“The suspect in the name of Zulema was arrested on Thursday, January 15, 2026,” said Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Ariasandy, to detikBali, Friday (16/1/2026).

International Fugitive Tracked to Bali

According to Ariasandy, Zuleam was suspected of involvement in a violent robbery and had fled Romania before local authorities could arrest him. Information regarding his presence in Bali was obtained through international coordination involving Interpol Brussels, the National Central Bureau in Tashkent, and the National Central Bureau in Bucharest.

Based on this information, Indonesian police initiated a coordinated operation to locate and arrest the suspect. Personnel from Bali Police, Denpasar Police, and Gianyar Police supported the arrest process.

“There were members of the Bali Police, Denpasar Police, and Gianyar Police who assisted in Zuleam’s arrest,” said Ariasandy.

Arrest Conducted in Denpasar

Police later clarified that the arrest occurred within Denpasar’s jurisdiction. The Head of Public Relations of Gianyar Police, First Inspector Gusti Ngurah Sudiarta, emphasized that no arrests were made in Gianyar Regency, despite Gianyar Police officers participating in the operation.

He explained that Gianyar Police personnel were assigned to assist Interpol and other Indonesian police units during the arrest. However, the detention itself was conducted entirely in Denpasar, which falls under the authority of Denpasar Police.

“It is true that there are Gianyar Police personnel assisting Interpol. But there were no arrests in Gianyar. That’s the Denpasar area,” said Sudiarta.

Temporary Detention and Transfer

Following his arrest, Zuleam, 33, was taken to Bali Police Headquarters for temporary detention. Ariasandy stated that the suspect was briefly held at the regional police headquarters for custodial purposes before being transferred.

After the administrative process was completed, Zuleam was flown to the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta. He was subsequently handed over to the National Central Bureau in Bucharest as part of international cooperation procedures.

“It was taken to the Bali Police Station for detention. After that, (Zuleam) has been flown (handed over) to NCB Bucharest,” he said.
