The Class II Immigration Office at TPI Singaraja, Bali, has deported a Turkish national identified by the initials HY after discovering that he had overstayed his residence permit for 235 days. The 45-year-old was apprehended during a monitoring operation conducted by the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Section in Jembrana Regency on 27 September 2025.

Officials reported that HY was unable to present any valid immigration documents during the inspection. He was subsequently transferred to the Singaraja Immigration Office for further questioning.

“The person concerned did not apply for an extension according to the provisions,” said Acting Head of the Singaraja Immigration Office Anak Agung Gde Kusuma Putra in Singaraja, Bali, on Monday.

Eight Months Without Valid Documents

Following the examination, immigration authorities confirmed that HY had remained in Indonesia illegally since the end of January 2025, when his residence permit expired. The total overstay period amounted to nearly eight months.

Given the violation, HY was required to prepare his belongings and was escorted by immigration officers to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Badung on 27 September 2025. He was placed on a flight back to Türkiye the same day, under official supervision until departure.

Legal Basis for Deportation

Head of Singaraja Immigration Office, Agung, explained that HY’s actions violated Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration. The regulation stipulates that foreign nationals must comply with the terms of their stay permits and either leave the country or extend their visas before the licenses expire.

“We will not tolerate violations of residence permits, no matter how small. Every foreigner who violates the rules will be processed in accordance with applicable laws, including deportation and deterrence of entry into Indonesia,” he said.

Agung emphasized that renewal of visas or residence permits can be processed well in advance through the online system managed by the Directorate General of Immigration. He noted that the digital platform provides easier access for foreign nationals to manage their immigration documents, eliminating the need for direct visits to the immigration office.

Reminder for Foreign Residents in Bali

In connection with the case, Singaraja Immigration urged foreign nationals residing in Bali to pay close attention to the validity of their residence permits. The office highlighted that renewal applications should be submitted before expiry through the Directorate General of Immigration’s online portal at evisa.imigrasi.go.id.

“This step is a warning for other foreigners to obey the rules. We will continue to increase supervision to maintain regional security and state authority,” he concluded.

Authorities reiterated that such facilities are provided to ensure compliance with Indonesian immigration law and to prevent similar violations.

Immigration Offices in Bali

For administrative purposes, Bali is served by three immigration offices. The Denpasar Immigration Office oversees the City of Denpasar, as well as northern Badung Regency, including Abiansemal, Mengwi, and Petang Districts, and the Regencies of Gianyar, Klungkung, Bangli, and Tabanan.

The Singaraja Immigration Office is responsible for the Regencies of Buleleng, Jembrana, and Karangasem. At the same time, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office covers the areas of Kuta, North Kuta, and South Kuta in Badung Regency.

Case Concluded with Deportation

With HY’s deportation carried out on 27 September 2025, immigration authorities confirmed the case has been resolved. The Singaraja Immigration Office stated that the enforcement action serves as a reminder that foreign nationals must comply with Indonesian immigration regulations and use the available systems to maintain valid residence permits.
