Bali-based businessman and investor Sergey Solonin has officially acquired the ParQ Ubud complex in Gianyar, marking what he described as a new chapter for the high-profile site, which has previously drawn public attention over land permit and legal status issues.
In a statement released Friday, Solonin said future development would be rooted in principles of accountability, legal compliance, and respect for Balinese culture.
“Bali’s growth must go hand in hand with preserving its cultural identity. We are committed to aligning our efforts with the government’s vision, ensuring development benefits not just investors, but also the local community,” he said.
The acquisition, Solonin added, represents the beginning of a new management approach for what he called a culturally and socially sensitive area.
Legal clarity and community trust
Solonin emphasized the need to clarify the legal status of the land and deliver added value to the surrounding community. Rebuilding public trust would be a key focus, he said.
“We want to make sure local job opportunities not only remain but expand. This place should become a part of the community’s life and wellbeing,” Solonin stated.
Culturally inclusive transformation
Looking ahead, ParQ Ubud’s new management expect to follow a culturally inclusive, environmentally aware strategy, with clear land ownership structures and transparent governance, Solonin said. The process will involve local stakeholders, including community leaders, cultural figures, and regional authorities.
More detailed plans are expected to be announced soon.
Long-term investment with social commitment
Solonin, who has lived and invested in Bali for years, is known for his involvement in a range of business and social initiatives across Indonesia. He said the acquisition was an opportunity to demonstrate that responsible investment can bring long-term benefits beyond economic returns.
Previously marketed as a creative and residential complex with fitness facilities, three swimming pools, and various shops, ParQ Ubud faced scrutiny over licensing issues and unclear land status. The acquisition is expected to bring legal certainty and set a clearer path for future development.
