Deadly attack ighann tourist district
The attack occurred just after midnight on Saturday at a private villa in Munggu, a coastal village in southern Bali. Zivan Radmanovic, 32, was shot and killed at the scene. Sanar Ghanim, 34, was seriously wounded and is currently receiving medical treatment. Police said Ghanim was also physically assaulted during the incident.
Radmanovic’s wife told investigators she was awakened by his screams and later found him dead in the bathroom. Ghanim’s wife, who was also in the villa at the time, witnessed the attack. Neither of the women were injured.
Evidence collected from scene
Investigators recovered 17 bullet casings, two intact projectiles, and 55 bullet fragments from the villa. Images circulated in Australian media show blood stains on the floor and bullet holes in the villa’s windows.
Witnesses reported seeing two men fleeing the scene on scooters. One was described as wearing an orange jacket and dark helmet, while the other wore a dark green jacket, black mask, and dark helmet. Witnesses also said they heard the assailants speaking English with strong Australian accents.
One reportedly said, “I can’t start my bike,” before eventually managing to flee.
Links to Melbourne underworld
While police have not released a motive, Australian media have reported that Ghanim has a prior criminal record in Australia.
He served prison time over a non-fatal shooting in Melbourne in 2014 and was reportedly once in a relationship with the step-daughter of the late Carl Williams, a known figure in Melbourne’s criminal underworld.
Police investigation ongoing
Bali police are expected to hold a press conference on Wednesday to provide additional updates on the case. A spokesperson for Victoria Police confirmed they are aware of the incident and will support Indonesian authorities in the investigation.
The shooting occurred in Badung regency, home to popular destinations such as Canggu and Kuta. Violent crime is uncommon in Bali, a resort island that draws millions of international tourists each year.
