
A Russian national identified as ZD, aged 27, was found dead inside a villa room in Banjar Pengembungan, Pererenan Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, Bali, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The discovery was made after the villa staff noticed that the guest had not responded for several days and his room lights remained on.
According to information from the Badung Resort Police (Polres Badung), the victim was last seen alive on Monday, October 13, 2025, around 9 a.m., when he approached villa staff to extend his room rental. The following day, a staff member reportedly checked the room multiple times to remind ZD of his scheduled check-out, but there was no response.
On Wednesday, around noon, the villa management decided to open the room using a spare key to confirm the guest’s condition. Upon entering, the staff found the man lying face down and unresponsive on the floor, unclothed. The discovery was immediately reported to Mengwi Police for further handling.
Police Conduct an Investigation at the Scene
“Because there was no response from the victim when the villa employee contacted him regarding the check-out deadline. The hotel manager then ordered the employee to open the room using a spare key; only then would it be known,” explained Agung Rai, Thursday (16/10/2025).
Mengwi Police Chief Commissioner Anak Agung Gede Rai Darmayasa confirmed the incident, stating that officers arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report. He said ZD, who was registered as a tourist, was found lying face down on the floor of the villa room with no clothing
Officers found no signs of violence on the body, but there was a minor wound on the right temple. Evidence collected from the room included traces of vomit in the toilet, feces near the bathroom door and under a chair, as well as several scattered items such as mosquito repellent, vitamins, and snacks.
Police Seek Autopsy Approval
The Criminal Investigation Unit of Badung Police has requested an autopsy at Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar to determine the exact cause of death. The police are currently awaiting approval from the victim’s family before proceeding.
“The police have submitted an application for an autopsy to be carried out at the hospital, but are still waiting for approval from the victim’s family,” said Temporary Officer (PS) of the Head of Public Relations of the Badung Police, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, Thursday (16/10/2025).
The case remains under investigation by the Badung Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The authorities are also coordinating with the villa management and related parties to gather more information about the victim’s activities before his death.
Investigation Ongoing
As of now, police have not found indications of foul play. Further conclusions will depend on the results of the autopsy and laboratory examination. The body of the victim remains at Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar pending the next steps of the investigation.
