A Russian national identified by the initials VG was found dead in a residential property on Jalan Muding Indah, Kerobokan Kaja, North Kuta, Badung, on Thursday morning, January 1, 2026. Police confirmed that the woman died by hanging and that initial findings indicate suicide, with no evidence of external violence.

Discovery at the Residence

VG was discovered at around 10.00 WITA by Ni Wayan Latri, a woman who worked at the residence and lived across from the house. According to information provided to police, Latri had been feeding cats near the property when she noticed that the garage light inside VG’s house was still on. Intending to turn it off, she entered the garage area and saw VG hanging.

After making the discovery, Latri immediately contacted the homeowner and the local Bhayangkara Pembina Keamanan dan Ketertiban Masyarakat in Kerobokan Kaja. The report prompted a response from local police units.

Police Examination at the Scene

Personnel from the Intelligence and Security Unit and the Unit Kecil Lengkap of the North Kuta Police arrived at the location at approximately 10.45 WITA. Officers conducted an examination of the scene and the body.

Based on the initial police assessment, there were no signs of physical violence or struggle on VG’s body. Police stated that the condition of the scene was consistent with suicide. The findings were documented in the official report.

Information from the Homeowner

The homeowner provided further information to the police regarding VG’s personal circumstances, Made Nesia. According to Nesia, VG had been experiencing depression, which was believed to be connected to the prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Nesia also told authorities that he had previously accompanied VG to seek medical treatment related to her condition.

Investigators considered this account part of their effort to understand the incident’s background.

Contents of the Handwritten Letter

Police also found a handwritten will left by VG on a table inside the house. The contents of the letter were cited as supporting evidence regarding her state of mind before her death.

In the letter, VG stated that she would no longer pay taxes to her home country, saying the funds were being used to support the Russia–Ukraine war. The will will also include instructions related to the handling of her body after death, as well as directions concerning her personal belongings.

Authorities confirmed that the letter was treated as evidence and was consistent with the homeowner’s account of VG’s distress.

I have no money left to live. Long ago I quit the job because my conscience doesn’t allow me to pay my taxes to fascist russia for the war. Putin has taken everything from me. Nothing good ahead, so no reason and power to continue.

Here are some instructions:

1. Please take care of the cat Kisa. Feed her 3 times per day, give her some water and pet her, please. The rest of the food is in the fridge. I gave her the wet food in the middle of the day (2-3 pm), the dry one in the morning (8-9 am) and in the evening (8-9 pm). After she eats all the wet food you can give her only the dry one.

2. I officially give my permission to donate my organs if it’s legal in Indonesia.

3. There are some decent clothes in the suitcase to give it away to someone in need. Perhaps orphanage.

4. Please use all the rest of my stuff (furniture, household appliances, kitchen utensils etc) at your discretion.

5. Please cremate my body or what’s left after possible organ donation here in Bali. I would like my ashes to be scattered over the ocean. I have left 60 million rupiah for the cremation. I’m sure it would be enough. No ceremony please, do it quickly and calm. The clothes for the procedure if needed is on the bed.

6. Please inform my brother T.G.

Thank you.

I am sorry for all the trouble I caused.
