Less than a week after a Brazilian tourist was deported for engaging in sex work in Bali, two Russian women were removed from the island on Monday for their alleged involvement in prostitution.

The arrests took place on November 14, 2024, at a villa in Seminyak, Kuta, following authorities’ digital patrol into their online communication.

Authorities confiscated evidence at the scene, including baby oil, adult toys, and cash in U.S. and Australian dollars.

Gede Dudy Duwita, the head of the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center, revealed that the women had been advertising massage services with “extra benefits.”

“Officials discovered photographic materials used in their advertisements, which [the suspects] admitted to being their own,” Dudy stated on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

The arrests stemmed from digital patrols conducted by immigration officers, which uncovered suspicious communications linked to the women’s alleged illegal activities. Further investigations led the Ngurah Rai Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Division to their location in Seminyak.

Both individuals were found to have violated Article 75, Paragraph (1) of Indonesia’s Immigration Law No. 6 of 2011, which permits authorities to take action against foreigners engaging in unauthorized activities or violating their stay permits.

“Any breach of residency permits and involvement in illegal activities, including prostitution, must be dealt with firmly,” Dudy emphasized.

As a result, the two women were subjected to administrative sanctions, including deportation. They were sent back to Russia via Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on December 2, 2024.
