
A video showing three foreign nationals allegedly stealing items from a shop in Ubud has gone viral on social media. The footage, which quickly gained online attention, prompted local authorities to launch an investigation into the incident and search for the individuals involved.
The recording was first uploaded by the account @mngdyaa. It depicts two men with sporty appearances standing in a way that obstructs others’ view inside the store. Meanwhile, another man dressed in beachwear can be seen placing several pieces of clothing into a bag. Their actions appear coordinated as they reposition themselves and converse in a foreign language.
CCTV Footage Reveals Timeline of Events
Additional footage captured by the store’s closed-circuit camera system provides more clarity on the timing of the incident. The CCTV recording shows the alleged theft taking place at 11.35 Wita on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.
The uploader stated that the event occurred along Jalan Kajeng in Ubud Village, within the Ubud District. Throughout the video clips circulating online, the three individuals appear to glance several times toward the store’s entrance, where an attendant is seen serving other customers.
Police Confirm Incident and Begin Investigation
The Ubud Police have acknowledged the footage and confirmed that an investigation is underway. When contacted by detikBali, Ubud Police Public Relations Officer Ipda Ida Bagus Palguna confirmed the incident and stated that efforts to locate the three foreign nationals are underway.
According to him, officers have initiated steps to identify the individuals captured in the circulating video. He also noted that the police are actively working to determine their current whereabouts.
Ongoing Efforts to Locate Individuals
Authorities have not released further details about the identities or nationalities of the individuals shown in the recording. Police have also not disclosed the exact number of items reportedly taken from the shop.
Investigators are continuing to review the viral recording and CCTV footage as part of the evidence-gathering process. Officers are coordinating with the shop and other relevant parties to obtain additional information that may assist in the search.
“It is still an investigation process. The perpetrator is still being sought, has not been arrested,” said Palguna, Thursday (4/12/2025).
