State-owned enterprise PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC) has temporarily closed the Waterblow attraction located in The Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali. The closure follows a forecast from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Region III Denpasar, which warned of potentially high waves from 6 to 9 August 2025.
“We have decided to temporarily close starting Wednesday, August 6, 2025 until further notice,” said General Manager of the Nusa Dua ITDC I Made Agus Dwiatmika in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, Wednesday.
ITDC stated that the decision was made based on direct monitoring conducted by its operational team and aligned with the official advisory from BMKG. The closure aims to mitigate risks associated with wave activity along the coastline.
“Until now, the situation in the area is still under control and minor damage has been recorded to several supporting elements around the waterblow area,” he said.
Focused Safety Measures at Peninsula Island and Nusa Dharma
As part of the risk mitigation efforts, ITDC has implemented enhanced safety protocols across two islands in the managed area: Peninsula Island and Nusa Dharma Island. These actions include the deployment of additional security personnel and the installation of safety signage.
On Peninsula Island, ITDC has stationed extra security staff in high-risk zones, particularly near the Waterblow site and the nearby Pura Bias Tugel temple. Warning signs and danger notices have been strategically placed to alert visitors to the risk of strong waves. In addition, ITDC is coordinating closely with the temple’s management to ensure visitor safety and maintain the sanctity of the religious site.
Over at Nusa Dharma Island, the organization has stepped up patrolling and surveillance along pedestrian routes and public areas near the shoreline. The measures are designed to monitor foot traffic and prevent unauthorized access to potentially hazardous zones.
Route Adjustments and On-Ground Monitoring
ITDC has also prepared contingency measures, including the possible adjustment of access routes should wave conditions worsen. Security personnel are on standby to respond to uncontrolled visitor movement near vulnerable areas.
The organization emphasized that these measures are dynamic and will be adapted in real time according to developments in the field. Operational teams remain actively deployed to oversee implementation and maintain situational awareness throughout the affected period.
Popular Attraction Known for Coastal Wave Formations
The Waterblow site is a notable natural attraction in the Nusa Dua area, drawing visitors to observe powerful wave surges that crash into rocky outcrops, creating dramatic seawater sprays. Its unique geological features make it a key draw for nature tourism within the ITDC-managed area.
Ongoing Safety Evaluation in Place
The temporary closure will remain in effect through the wave warning period, with ITDC continuing to monitor conditions in coordination with relevant authorities. Visitors are advised to comply with safety advisories and refrain from entering restricted areas.
Updates on the reopening of the Waterblow attraction will be provided based on further assessments by ITDC and developments in weather conditions issued by BMKG.
