Bali is preparing to establish two new immigration offices located in Tabanan and Klungkung. Both will operate as Class 3 Non-TPI units and are intended to serve immigration needs for Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals living in the two regencies. The initiative aims to improve access to immigration services for residents who currently rely on the Denpasar Immigration Office.
“The establishment of these new offices is our effort to improve services to the community,” said the Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, in his statement on Thursday (13/11/2025).
Improved Access for Local Residents
Authorities stated that the addition of these offices will help broaden the reach of immigration services. At present, individuals residing in Tabanan and Klungkung must travel to Denpasar for immigration-related administrative processes. The new facilities are expected to simplify procedures and allow residents to complete their requirements without leaving their respective regencies.
The offices will provide a full range of immigration services for both Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals. Their operational jurisdictions for areas outside Tabanan and Klungkung will be outlined once the official decree is issued.
“We ensure that areas that have been considered to have significant immigration service needs can be accommodated properly,” said Yuldi.
Awaiting Official Approval
Although plans for the new offices have been confirmed, the decree authorizing construction and appointing the office heads has not yet been issued. Officials indicated that further administrative steps will proceed once the decree is finalized.
Oversight and Enforcement Duties
Beyond administrative services, both offices will also be responsible for immigration oversight and enforcement activities. This includes monitoring and taking action against violations committed by foreign nationals or Indonesian citizens within the two regencies. With the establishment of these offices, oversight duties in Tabanan and Klungkung will no longer be handled solely by immigration authorities in Denpasar.
“The work area other than in Tabanan and Klungkung will be determined by the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections and the Bali provincial government,” he said.
No International Entry Checks
Officials clarified that the new offices will not conduct immigration checks for arriving foreign nationals. This is because Tabanan and Klungkung do not have international airports or seaports. All international entry inspections will continue to be carried out at designated points of entry elsewhere in Bali.
Status Pending Decree
The establishment of the two offices remains pending until the official decree is issued. Once approved, the new units are expected to strengthen immigration services and enforcement coverage across Bali.
