The Bali Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has revised the number of fatalities from the recent floods. Initially reported as 18, the confirmed number of deaths now stands at 17. The correction was announced as BPBD Bali received a visit from Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai, who reviewed the overall situation and the handling of the disaster in Bali.
“There is a correction in the number of one person due to double registration,” said the Chief Executive of BPBD Bali, I Gede Agung Teja Bhusana Yadnya, in Denpasar, Friday (12/9/2025)
As of Friday at 2:00 p.m. WITA, with confirmation at 8:00 p.m. WITA, the official record showed 17 deaths and 5 people still missing.
Distribution of Victims
The fatalities were reported from several regions across Bali. Denpasar recorded the highest number with 11 victims. Gianyar reported three fatalities, Jembrana two, and Badung one.
Building Damage
In addition to casualties, the floods caused widespread damage to infrastructure and housing. BPBD Bali reported a total of 515 affected buildings. Of these, 475 were located in Denpasar. Other affected areas included Tabanan with 29 buildings, Karangasem with six, Gianyar with two, and Bangli with three.
Evacuation Centers
As of Friday at 12:00 p.m. WITA, 188 people had taken refuge in six evacuation sites. These centers included SD 25 Pemecutan with eight people, Banjar Sedana Mertha Ubung with 24, Banjar Dakdakan Peguyangan with 48, Banjar Kesambi Kesiman with 43, Pulau Misol Post with 45, and Banjar Tohpati with 20.
Emergency Response Status
The Bali Provincial Government has declared a one-week emergency response period starting Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The primary focus during this period is the evacuation of victims and the provision of logistics for displaced residents.
Transportation Remains Normal
Despite the flooding, air travel to Bali has remained unaffected. One confirmed operational route is from Juanda International Airport in Surabaya to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.
BMKG Statement
Researcher Siswanto from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the heavy rainfall recorded was the highest in history. The extreme downpour was a key factor behind the severe flooding across Bali.
Current Situation With the death toll revised to 17, search efforts continue for the five missing individuals. Local authorities and relevant agencies remain focused on evacuation, assisting displaced residents, and restoring damaged infrastructure.
