Bali authorities have deported 128 foreign nationals between January and 31 March 2025, the government confirmed.

Governor I Wayan Koster said the highest number of deportations involved citizens from Russia (32 people), followed by the United States (10 people), Australia (6 people), India (6 people), Timor Leste (6 people), and Ukraine (6 people).

Koster explained the deportations were carried out for various violations, including disturbing public order by fighting and causing unrest, as well as working illegally without proper permits.

He emphasized that deportation is a firm action by the government to ensure Bali’s tourism environment remains safe and conducive. Foreign visitors were reminded to respect local regulations during their stay.

“There will be no tolerance for foreign nationals who behave disruptively or violate the law in Bali,” Koster said on Tuesday, 15 April 2025.

“Bali is an open home for international tourists, but everyone who comes must respect our laws, customs, and local culture. There is no place for actions that disrupt public order or endanger the community.”

Recent Deportation

Most recently, immigration authorities deported a 27-year-old United States citizen, identified as MM, after he caused a disturbance and committed acts of vandalism at Nusa Medika Klinik Pratama on Jalan Labuan Sait, Pecatu Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, in the early hours of Saturday, 12 April 2025.

MM was found to have violated Article 406 of Indonesia’s Criminal Code concerning destruction of property, and Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration. He also breached Governor of Bali Circular No. 7 of 2025 regarding new guidelines for foreign tourists visiting Bali.

Although police detained MM, he was handed over to immigration authorities for deportation.

He was not prosecuted in court because no narcotics or other criminal evidence was found during searches, including at his accommodation.

The deportation comes as part of Bali’s broader crackdown on disruptive behavior by foreigners to safeguard public order.
