Earthquake Jolts Bali’s Kuta Selatan, Felt in Denpasar and Lombok. No Tsunami Warning.

A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Kuta Selatan in Bali’s Badung regency on Wednesday, 8 January 2025, shaking the area and being felt as far as Denpasar, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The earthquake occurred at 9:14 a.m. local time at a depth of 121 kilometers. Its epicenter was located 26 kilometers southeast of Kuta Selatan at coordinates 8.91°S and 115.44°E.

BMKG reported that the tremors were also felt in parts of Lombok, including West Lombok, Mataram, and Central Lombok.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been released. BMKG has not issued a tsunami warning for the region.
