A fertility treatment center will soon be established in the Sanur Special Economic Zone (KEK Sanur) in Denpasar, Bali, as part of efforts to strengthen the island’s position as a global destination for health and wellness tourism. The initiative is led by the state-owned enterprise Hotel Indonesia Natour (HIN), which serves as the Development and Management Business Entity (BUPP) for KEK Sanur, also known as The Sanur.

“This is an important milestone for the transformation of Indonesia’s health tourism,” said President Director of PT Hotel Indonesia Natour (HIN) Christine Hutabarat in Denpasar, Bali, Tuesday.

For the initial phase, HIN has partnered with Malaysia-based fertility clinic network Alpha IVF following the signing of a Land Lease Agreement (LLA). This collaboration marks the beginning of the construction of an international-standard fertility and women’s health facility on a 6,343-square-meter plot within the KEK Sanur area.

Comprehensive Reproductive and Women’s Health Services

The upcoming center will provide a full range of fertility and reproductive care services, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), obstetrics, gynecology, and integrated women’s and children’s healthcare. According to HIN, the project aims to offer comprehensive and specialized medical services to meet Indonesia’s growing demand for fertility care.

“With the presence of a service center in Bali, we want to bring international standards closer to the Indonesian people,” he said.

Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee, a representative of Alpha IVF, stated that Indonesia continues to experience an increasing need for fertility treatment and related medical services. He expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the Indonesian government’s vision of making KEK Sanur a premier destination for health tourism in the region.

KEK Sanur: Indonesia’s First Health and Tourism Special Economic Zone

KEK Sanur is Indonesia’s first special economic zone dedicated to health and tourism, inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on June 25, 2025. Spanning 41.26 hectares, the area is designated as one of the country’s national strategic projects, designed to integrate world-class medical facilities, hotel accommodations, meeting and convention (MICE) venues, and health research centers within a single modern complex.

According to data from the National Council for Special Economic Zones (Dewan Nasional KEK), KEK Sanur has been projected to attract a total investment of Rp10.2 trillion upon completion of its whole operation. The development is also expected to create approximately 18,375 direct jobs and 25,272 indirect employment opportunities.

Investment Progress and Future Outlook

Since its establishment, KEK Sanur has demonstrated significant growth in investment. As of the first quarter of 2025, the National Council for KEK reported a cumulative realized investment of Rp4.42 trillion and the creation of 3,822 new jobs.

The establishment of the fertility center marks another milestone in the broader development of KEK Sanur, aligning with Indonesia’s long-term plan to enhance healthcare infrastructure and attract international visitors seeking specialized medical treatment.
