A French videographer identified as David Frederic Amouzegh, aged 32, became a victim of theft while staying at a villa in Pererenan Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, Bali. The burglary took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, while the victim was away from the property.

According to the Acting Head of the Public Information Subsection at the Public Relations Section of Badung Police, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, the incident occurred when the victim left the villa around 4:00 p.m. When he returned at approximately 9:00 p.m., he found the door of his room damaged and the interior in disarray. Upon inspection, several valuable electronic items were missing.

The total loss was estimated at around Rp 330 million. The victim promptly reported the incident to the Badung Police under report number LP/B/197/X/2025/SPKT/POLRES BADUNG/POLDA BALI.

“As a result of this incident, the victim suffered a loss of Rp 330 million,” he said.

Police Identify and Arrest Main Suspect

Following the report, investigators from the Badung Police Criminal Investigation Unit launched an inquiry into the case. After a series of investigations and evidence collection, officers identified a man with the initials S, also known as Sadam Husein, aged 41, as the primary suspect.

Inastuti stated that suspect S was arrested while attempting to flee to East Java. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to breaking into the villa and stealing several electronic devices belonging to the victim. The police then conducted a follow-up operation to locate other individuals involved in the case.

“Perpetrator S admitted that it was true that he had committed theft in the villa by prrying the door, then selling the stolen goods to the VH collector by sending packages to the Bungurasih Terminal area ordered by the direct collector,” he said on Monday (3/10/2025).

Second Suspect Apprehended in Sidoarjo

Based on information obtained from the first suspect, officers later arrested a second individual identified by the initials VH, also known as Holy, aged 47. VH was apprehended at his residence in Sidoarjo, East Java.

According to the police, VH acted as the fence who received and attempted to sell the stolen goods. Law enforcement officers also confiscated several pieces of evidence believed to be connected to the theft, including electronic devices matching the victim’s description of the stolen items.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

Both suspects have been detained at the Badung Police headquarters for further investigation. Authorities confirmed that suspect S faces charges under Article 363 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison for theft. Meanwhile, suspect VH has been charged under Article 480 of the Criminal Code for receiving stolen goods, which carries a potential sentence of up to four years in prison.

Inastuti emphasized that the police will continue to develop the case to determine whether the suspects are linked to other similar crimes in the area. The investigation remains ongoing.

Investigation Continues

As of this report, both suspects remain in police custody. Officers have secured all available evidence and continue to trace the movement of the stolen items. Authorities have not disclosed further details about the exact nature of the recovered goods but confirmed that several items have been successfully retrieved.

The Badung Police reaffirmed their commitment to handling theft cases involving both local and foreign victims in Bali.
