A 32-year-old French woman identified by her initials Kim Josy Becquet has been deported from Bali after immigration authorities discovered she was working illegally as a sales manager at a nightclub in Tibubeneng, Badung Regency. Officials confirmed that the woman was in Indonesia under a visa on arrival, which does not permit employment.

The case was handled by the Immigration Office following an inspection that revealed Kim Josy Becquet involvement in employment activities beyond the scope of her visa. According to immigration officers, she admitted to taking the job to avoid paying taxes in her home country. The work had reportedly been ongoing for about one month before she was apprehended.

“KJB is known to work as a sales manager with an income of around IDR 20 million per month,” said the Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Winarko, in a statement released on Tuesday (4/11/2025).

Violation of Indonesian Immigration Law

Following the investigation, Kim Josy Becquet was found to have violated Article 75 in conjunction with Article 122 (a) of Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration. The law provides sanctions for foreign nationals who misuse their residence permits or engage in activities inconsistent with the purpose of their stay.

The Head of Immigration in Bali explained that such cases fall under administrative immigration violations, which allow authorities to impose deportation and entry bans without criminal prosecution. After the decision was issued, Kim Josy Becquet was detained briefly for processing before being deported to France.

Deportation and Flight Details

Authorities confirmed that Kim Josy Becquet was deported on Monday, November 3, 2025, via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. She departed Bali on a Thai Airways flight bound for Paris via Bangkok. Immigration officials also stated that she is now subject to an administrative immigration measure prohibiting her from returning to Indonesia for a certain period.

The deportation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the Bali Immigration Office to ensure that foreign visitors comply with the terms of their entry permits. The office reiterated that visa on arrival holders are not allowed to engage in paid work or business activities during their stay.

Ongoing Investigation into Employer

While the deportation has been completed, authorities are still looking into the nightclub that employed the French national. Immigration officers have yet to determine the identity of the establishment’s owner or manager who hired Kim Josy Becquet without proper authorization.

“The owner of the club is still being investigated, it is not yet known who (belongs to foreigners or Indonesian citizens),” he said.

The Bali Regional Police and the Immigration Office have recently intensified coordination in monitoring violations committed by foreign nationals. This follows a series of incidents involving foreigners misusing their visas for work or business purposes on the island.

Continued Enforcement of Immigration Regulations

Immigration officials emphasized that Indonesia’s immigration laws apply equally to all foreign visitors, regardless of nationality. The agency continues to monitor workplaces and tourism areas where violations are suspected to occur.

The case of Kim Josy Becquet adds to the list of recent actions taken against foreigners found breaching immigration and employment regulations in Bali. For now, the investigation into the employer’s responsibility remains ongoing while the deported individual is barred from returning to Indonesia.
