A foreign national from Russia was involved in a dispute with a resident, I Kadek Dwi Saputra, in Dusun Pendem Kangin, Desa Pejukutan, Kecamatan Nusa Penida. The incident occurred yesterday and quickly drew attention from nearby residents before local authorities stepped in to manage the situation.

The identity of the Russian national has not been disclosed. Initial information indicates that the confrontation escalated into a verbal dispute, which resulted in minor injuries to those involved.

“The cause was that the Russian citizen was hit by a series of tree branches while crossing the scene of the incident, resulting in the person concerned suffering minor injuries,” explained Nusa Penida Police Chief AKP I Ketut Kesuma Jaya, Wednesday (10/12/2025).

Dispute Triggered by Traffic Disruption

According to Kesuma’s statements, I, Kadek Dwi Saputra, was operating heavy equipment at the time of the incident. He was cutting down a juwet tree by the roadside. The activity briefly disrupted traffic flow in the area.

The situation intensified when the Russian visitor reportedly became emotional and refused to move from the spot where he had fallen. This refusal contributed to the congestion and heightened tensions, ultimately leading to the verbal confrontation between the two individuals.

“Therefore, the police immediately mediated between the two. We provide understanding and ensure that the situation remains conducive,” added Kesuma.

Police Intervention and Mediation Efforts

Local police responded promptly after receiving information about the altercation. Officers assessed the condition of both parties and reviewed the circumstances that led to the disagreement. Authorities confirmed that the injuries sustained were minor.

With guidance from law enforcement, both parties agreed to resolve the matter peacefully. The police facilitated communication between the foreign national and the resident to prevent the disagreement from escalating further.

Agreement to Seek Medical Attention

Following discussions mediated by the police, both parties agreed to settle the matter amicably. They also agreed to proceed with additional medical care to address the minor injuries resulting from the incident.

As of the latest update, police have confirmed that the situation has been resolved through mutual agreement. No further disputes have been reported, and both parties have adhered to the settlement reached in mediation.
