Two Russian nationals, Anastasiia Koveziuk (26) and Maksim Tokarev (32), are facing a one-year prison sentence after prosecutors accused them of operating an international online prostitution ring in Bali.

“Prosecutors demand a prison sentence of one year each for defendants Anastasiia Koveziuk and Maksim Tokarev,” said public prosecutor Made Hendra Pranata Dharmaputra during a hearing at Denpasar District Court on Thursday, 15 May 2025. The trial was presided over by Judge Hariyanti.

Recruitment, coordination, and payments

The prosecution said the two defendants acted as operators of an organized sex work operation targeting women from Russia. These women were allegedly recruited to work as commercial sex workers and advertised via an online platform managed by the pair, in addition to promotion through the Telegram messaging app.

Authorities revealed that the operation came to light in the early hours of 10 January 2025 after a tip-off about a sexual transaction at KOA D’Surfer Hotel in North Kuta, Badung. There, police found a woman, identified as Ermakova Ekaterina (alias Lisa), engaging in sex with a Russian man named Kiryl Adamchuk. Kiryl had transferred Rp 5,5 million to Anastasiia as payment for the encounter.

According to the prosecution, Lisa was a victim of the international prostitution network and had been promoted through Telegram accounts managed directly by Anastasiia.

Recruitment, coordination, and payments

Beyond website management, Anastasiia also handled online communication, financial transactions, and the overall operations of the prostitution business. She controlled schedules, venues, and the recruitment process for new sex workers.

Meanwhile, Maksim’s role, prosecutors said, included coordinating with clients through WhatsApp and managing field operations such as dispatching the sex workers once a price had been agreed.

Payment for the services was reportedly made via bank transfers, cash, and cryptocurrency. Of each transaction, sex workers received 50 percent, Anastasiia took 40 percent, and Maksim 10 percent.

The case remains under trial, with final sentencing yet to be determined.
