Villa Worker Stole Money from Guest to Buy iPhone

Police in Kuta have arrested a 23-year-old villa worker in connection with a theft at Villa Sawah, Seminyak, where a Chinese tourist and his friend lost a combined 3,900 Yuan. The swift investigation, which relied on CCTV footage and interviews with villa staff, led to her capture a day after the incident.

The incident occurred on Thursday, November 28, 2024, when the tourist discovered 3,500 Yuan missing from his bag following a room cleaning service, Bali authorities reported. His friend reported an additional loss of 400 Yuan. Together, the stolen amount totaled approximately 8.5 million rupiah.

The suspect, a young woman from Karangasem, was detained the following day.

According to Denpasar Police Public Relations Chief AKP I Ketut Sukadi, the suspect confessed to stealing the money and using it to purchase an iPhone 13.

“The suspect has admitted her actions and is currently in custody at Kuta Police Station for further legal proceedings,” Sukadi said in a statement.

The suspect is now undergoing the judicial process, with charges pending under Indonesian law.
