Water Taxi Bali Marine has officially begun operating at Benoa Port, part of an initiative by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 3 to enhance Bali’s tourism ecosystem with a focus on sustainability.

“With the Water Taxi Bali Marine program, we hope to shorten travel distances and enhance the experience for tourists visiting Tanjung Benoa, Serangan, and Pedungan,” said Johannes Wahyu, Acting Executive Director 3 of Pelindo, in a written statement on Saturday, 22 February 2025.

Johannes emphasized that the service is expected to boost tourism potential while providing sustainable economic benefits to local stakeholders, including fishermen, tour guides, and small business owners.

Beyond offering a new mode of transport, the water taxi program aims to generate employment opportunities for local communities in the tourism sector.

The initiative is part of Pelindo’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, which prioritizes creating shared values between businesses and the community.

The initiative has received positive feedback from local leaders, including Bendesa Adat Tanjung Benoa, I Made Wijaya, who expressed appreciation for the program’s engagement with the community.

“Hopefully, this water taxi will bring greater benefits to the people, especially in Tanjung Benoa,” Wijaya said.
